The Bream Bay Swimming Club was formed in 1976 and is the only affiliated club promoting swimming within the wider Bream Bay District.  The BBSC is affiliated to the Northland Swimming Association, Swimming Northland.

 

During the winter months the club training is conducted at Tiana’s Swim School and in the warmer months the club moves operations to Bream Bay College Pool.

 

Our Coaches

Our coaching staff, Richard Dunkerton (Mr D) and Tiana Birchall are a father/daughter team with a strong family history of swimming in Northland and nearly 50 combined years of coaching and teaching experience.

 

Mr D is a life member of both the Bay of Islands Swimming Club and Swimming Northland, and is enthusiastic about bringing his skills to the next generation of swimmers. He has held many roles at both club and region level and is currently on the Swimming Northland Events management committee.

 

Tiana swam as a National Age Group finalist. She also holds a NZ Life Saving Distinction Award, is a NZ Life Saving Examiner, Learn to Swim Instructor and has operated her own swim school for 12 years.
